I'm here again asking help with a naval weapon as in my previous thread on 2cm Flakvierling 38.
I'm looking info on naval use by Kriegsmarine of this very common weapon. All my sources refers to US Navy and Royal Navy use of it. Most of the WWII photos comes form US Navy archives.
Whre I could find photos and information of this weapon on Kriegsmarine ships?

I think Miroslaw Skwiot's German Naval Artillery vol. IV is good. There is some on both the 2 cm Flak 29 and the naval 2 cm Vierling.

the german Flak
30 and 38 has absolute nothing to do with the Oerlikon 20mm!
All KM ships had a lot of Flak 30 and Flak 38 on board from the war onwards.
This weapon was produced from Rheinmetall!

Of course, that´s right! But the 20 mm Oerlikon was also called
Flak 28 in German service and was used by the German Navy mainly aboard its small units!

I have corrected my typing misstake to "Flak 29" in my post (the gun in the book). The Flak 28 did also exsist (earlier version of the same gun or army version?).

Yes 2cm 30 and 38 are a different type of gun and they are often confused when speaking of small calibre. I opened anoter thread for Flak 38
All the books on this topic shows 2cm Flak 28, 29, 30 and 38.
Even the spanish article mixes them because they were used for the same purpose.
From what I understood, Germans bought the 20mm Oerlikon directly from Oerlikon factory. It was designated as:
2cm Flak 28 terrestrial mount
2cm Flak 29 naval mount
I hope the suggested book German Naval Artillery vol. IV has some photos of Flak 29 with the typical circual round magazine.
As I wrote I'm looking for his-res scan for a educational presentation. I was not able to find good photos of this weapon installed on a KM ship.
On Bundesarchiv picture database I found just one photo.
I hope someone could share a or suggest a source for other photos.

Hi,
There is one Flak 29 in the Atlantic Wall Museum in Ostende (not on a ship). There are many turist photos of it on the net. Best is to only google the museum for Pictures.
Is it a "real" Flak 29 or some other Oerlikon version?
There is also one in Denmark with stamps Flak 29, 1944. It is said that it was built in Germany under licence. Why? Could it do something that the Flak 38 could not?

Was ich bspw. nicht wusste und mir hoffentlich durch dieses Video korrekt vermittelt wurde? ,
dass das linke Magazin weiss lackiert wurde, wenn in Doppellafette, um in der Hektik Verwechslungen zu vermeiden.

Auf einem KFK, wo diese Waffe oft ziemlich hoch oben hinter der Brücke montiert war, war es nach Auskunft eines ehemaligen Munitionsmanners bei Seegang schon ein akrobatischer Balanceakt, das schwere 60 Schuß - Trommelmagazin hinauf auf die Waffe zu wuchten.
