Titel: Yachts used by the Kriegsmarine off Southern France1943-45
Beitrag von: PT Dockyard am 31 Oktober 2008, 02:16:29
Can anyone provide photos of the following French yachts taken over as Auxillary Minesweepers in 1939 and later  used off Southern France by the Kriegsmarine?

Tess II (AD-127)
Marélyn (AD-128)
Caducée (AD 239)
Bittern ( Served in the Vichy Fr. Navy 1941)

There are a number of yachts that later served in the Kriegsmarine that I am interested in too:
L'Aventureux
Vier
La Route est Belle
Floculat
Fleur de Lys
Fanfan La Tulipe (I love the name on this one!)
Dulcinea
Chimére
Mar y Sol
Fat Duc
Sabot de Venus

Any help would be great and my interest is not limited to this list.

Is there a source (book, website) on old yachts available somewhere?

Found one!  Here is a link to a picture of Marélyn (AD-128) while she was still the yacht "Braemar" in the late '20's.

I'd love to know what she was armed with in KM service! :O/Y

@kgvm:

FR 202 BLUE WATER can't be the ex STRANGER ex WENONAH PY-11 ex USC&GS ex USN SP-165, built 1915 by George Lawley & Son, since that yacht became on 2.10.1940 the HMCS WOLF Z-16, decommissioned 16.5.1945 and sold 15.7.1946 to the Gulf Line of Vancouver as the GULFSTREAM (from navsource).
So the other possibility, ex FLOTS BLEUS, 117 or 142 grt/1904, should be the correct one.

"White Shadow"/"FR. 206" survived the war. She was rebuilt and reengined in 1947/48 and became the motorship "Greghali", owned by Jean Moretti & Roger Oliviè, Monaco, 140 GRT. Still in Lloyd's Register 1962.
