P.S. On 15 October 1942, caught on the surface while charging her batteries, S-13 was attacked by the Finnish submarine chasers VMV-13 and VMV-15. During her crash dive, the submarine hit bottom, severely damaging her rudder and destroying her steering gear. The following depth charge attack worsened the damage, but S-13 escaped and made it back to Kronstadt. Quelle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_submarine_S-13

Am 12. Oktober 1942 versenkten VMV-13 und VMV-15 germeinsam SC-311 (Sidorenko).

No trace about finnish U-jagd in KTB FdM Ost. This day german U-Jagd group (M.37/3/14) continued to chase UB, located on 29.10.1942 by M.3. This was D-2, she already leave this place on 30.10.42. Germans see no evidence for bombing success. On 1.11.42 SS ALLENSTEIN reported about torpedo attack and escaped in swedish waters. Maybe false sighting.

This boat from 14.1.42 was commanded by kap3r Pudyakov. Version about finnish VMV is very weak, as less than 24 hour before sub dived near Hogland and headed west (00.00 12.10.42). It is almost impossible to reach Tiiskari by 12.10.42 evening.

Dear Igor,
All your informations are really most interesting - therefore I will set a link to your entry. But I am sceptic that FdM Ost was also considering Finnish VMV operations in his diary. Rohwer obviously got informations about a Finnish subchasing operation on 1st November.

I am mostly interested in SC-304. Was SC-304 already at sea on 1st November? Following Monakov/Rohwer (--/>/> http://www.wlb-stuttgart.de/seekrieg/anf/sowj.u-verluste-ost.htm ), SC-304 left harbour not before 6th November. Following Platonov, SC-304 left Lavansaari on 29th October
Sincerely yours
Thomas

First about finnish attacks. FdM Ost wrote messages sent from finns about AS-warfire in Finnish gulf. They present in KTB regularly.
Though finns long time ago displayed most of their archives in Internet.
From this we see, that 12.10.42 VMV-13 gunned enemy sub with their flak and dropped 6 WB on her. VMV-15 joined later and dropped 3 more WB. No signs of sinking was seen. http://i4.fastpic.ru/big/2010/1221/82/bf4d2143f3001948e3e2ad0687a16c82.jpg (sorry, no link on original on http://digi.narc.fi/)
I ask Miroslav about 1.11.42. He already worked out all finnish archives, i think.
SC-304 left Lavensaari for position Nr.5 (Finnish Gulf mouth) 29.10, on 05.00.

Thanks a lot, Boris.
That means that SC-304 may have possibly had an encounter with a Finnish UJ-group.
But in KTB FdM Ost there is no mention of any submarine hunt by Finnish naval forces.
Would you provide a fastpick of VMV-activity from 1 November 1942 - like that one given above?
Yours, Thomas

SC-304 can't be target for any U-Jager. This sub was already discovered on bottom in 2011, in area of Nashorn-sperre. Boat must send message when she passed minefields. As she send this message not, only conclusion is that sub perished on her way out in very beginning of war patrol.
All description of VMV-activity hide somewhere in www.digi.nark.fi. The sheet for 11-12.10.42 i have got occasionally, as M. Morozov researched what happend 12.10.42 and show pages on tsushuma.su. Pages for 1.11.42 he not displayed.

TW

Dear Igor, this explanation is really helpful and mostly appreciated.
Unfortunately I cannot read Finnish and am not able to find infomations on webside www.digi.narc.fi
Your hint is possibly a good hint for other visitors of ASA forum.
With best regards, Thomas

Well, i can't read finnish too. Some people on Tsushima.su helped to others read this documents and translate them to russian. Also some finnish people on http://forum.axishistory.com/viewforum.php?f=59 can help with translation in english. Maybe they even can find exact document when you ask?

Hallo TW,

Angriff HMS SAFARI auf Landungsfähre F 346 am 17.11.1942 bzw. 18.11.1942:

Kann es sein, dass der Datensatz http://www.historisches-marinearchiv.de/projekte/asa/ausgabe.php?where_value=2501
eine Dublette zu http://www.historisches-marinearchiv.de/projekte/asa/ausgabe.php?where_value=2497 ist?

Uhrzeit +-1h und Ort & Ziel deuten darauf hin.

Hallo TW,

KTB 2. L-Flottille, Eintrag vom 23.11.1942:

Zitat23.11.1942
[Unleserlich]
03.00 Uhr Angriff feindl.

Hallo Thomas,

Hallo zusammen,

ich wollte dieses Thema wieder aufgreifen:
http://www.forum-marinearchiv.de/smf/index.php/topic,13461.msg151367.html#msg151367
http://www.forum-marinearchiv.de/smf/index.php/topic,9821.msg200077.html#msg200077

a) MM 17.11.1942  08:00 br Safari T dt F346 155 ts + Kap Misurata
b) MM 17.11.1942  20:25 br Safari TA  Schoner  + 30.25n 19.35e
c) MM 18.11.1942   br Safari A  Feuerschiff  + Ras Ali
d) MM 18.11.1942  09:10 br Safari A  Landungsfähre  = 10sm Ras Ali
