Luftwaffe Groups Mediteranean

Goodmorning!

I know that after the battle of Crete, only eight bombing and dive bombing Luftwaffe Gruppen of Fliegerkorps X remained in both Greece and North Africa while Fliegerkorps VIII departed entirely for the Eastern Front. Does anyone know which these Gruppen are that remained in the Mediteranean perhaps?

Very well! So a portion of Fliegerkorps X stationed in Lybia in Janyary 1941 and the rest fought in Greece from were many aircraft departed for other Korps of the Eastern Front in June 1941. Then, when Fliegerkorps II arrived in Italy in late 1941 some of its units despatched to Lybia supplementing the already existing.

Was the desert air force under a certain Command maybe?

Byron's book "Die Deutsche Luftwaffe in Griechenland 1941-1944" has everything about the Groups in Greece. The trouble is in Afrika.

Hallo Georg,

Oberkommando hatte die Luftflotte 2 unter dem Befehl von GFM Albert Kesselring.
Er hatte den Oberbefehl über alle deutschen Land-, See- und Luftstreitkräfte im südlichen Gebiet.

Ihm unterstanden folgende Einheiten :

X. Fliegerkorps auf Kreta
II. Fliegerkorps auf Sizilien
Fliegerführer Afrika in Lybien.
