You will find a resumé by Francesco Mattesini and myself of this little known topic (August, 1943)  here:

Eine ausführliche Beschreibung der Aktivitäten und der Versenkung von Щ-203 durch CB 4 unter Leutnant Sibille befindet sich in К.Б. Стрелбицкий: ,,Подводник России" .
Falls Francesco Interesse hat, kann ich einen Scan schicken.

Yes, that would be useful. Thank you.

Platon Alexiades

Hi Francesco,

I would add a couple of details:

1. C.B.1 (Guardiamarina Giovanni Re) reported missed by a torpedo at 0300/23 August 1943. When the wreck of SC-203 was examined, tubes 1 and 4 were found empty so it is probable that SC-203 attacked first C.B.1 before being missed in return some 26 minutes later.

2. C.B.1 carried out another attack on 15 September 1943 - I assume with the same Italian crew  - on a Soviet "moana", one of three vessels proceeding south of Cape Sarych, the other two appeared to.be escorting gunboats. One torpedo was fired from a range of 1,000 metres but missed. I believe this was the last attack carried out by Italian midget submarines in the Black Sea. Can one provide the identity of three vessels?

Best regards,

Platon

Dear Platon,
you are probably talking about  a "Maona", Italian for a lighter, and not a "moana" ....
