•   Tropischer Sturm Dorian verstärkte sich über Nacht, da Puerto Rico und die U.S. Virgin Islands gewarnt wurden, sich auf Hurrikanbedingungen mit möglichen starken Regenfällen und "lebensbedrohlichen" Sturzfluten einzustellen, sagte das National Hurricane Center heute in seinem Mittwochsupdate um 8 Uhr.
•   Der Sturm wird voraussichtlich immer größer und könnte Florida als Hurrikan der Kategorie 2 bis Ende Sonntag oder Anfang Montag treffen.
•   Über Nacht zogen die Winde bis zu 60 mph an, als der Sturm seine erwartete Nordwestwende machte, und eine Hurrikanuhr wurde für Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra und die U.S. Virgin Islands ausgestellt. Präsident Trump erklärte am Dienstagabend einen Notfall und ordnete Bundeshilfe für die lokalen Behörden an.
•   Am frühen Mittwoch zeigt der Sturm das Potenzial für einen Hurrikan der Kategorie 2, der Zentralflorida bis spät am Sonntag bis Montagmorgen der nächsten Woche trifft.
•   Floridianer müssen vorbereitet sein und diese neueste Entwicklung ernst nehmen.

NHC-Prognosen sagten am Mittwoch, dass "fast alle Intensitätsmodelle zeigen, dass Dorian in etwa 2 Tagen zu einem Hurrikan Staerke 2 wird, mit zusätzlicher Stärkung über diese Zeit hinaus.

•   Die Bedrohung durch tropische Stürme oder Hurrikane, zusammen mit Sturmfluten, in den nordwestlichen Bahamas und entlang von Teilen der Ostküste Floridas hat zugenommen."
•   Die aktualisierte Spur des Hurrikanzentrums projizierte, dass Dorian bis Montag um 2 Uhr morgens vor der Küste von Titusville sein könnte, aber der Kegel der Unsicherheit zeigt, dass er auch überall von der südöstlichen Spitze von South Carolina bis zu den Everglades oder westlich von Florida im Golf von Mexiko bis dahin sein könnte.
•   "Die genauen Auswirkungen dieses Systems sind zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch unklar, viel wird von der Lage und Stärke des Dorian während dieser Zeit abhängen.

Stelle sicher, dass das Hurrikan-Kit deine Familie mindestens 72 Stunden lang versorgen kann.
Das Kit sollte enthalten:
•   Eine Gallone Wasser pro Person und Tag - Trinkwasser ist der Schlüssel zum Überleben nach dem Hurrikan.
•   Genügend Essen für drei Tage
•   Eine Handkurbel-Taschenlampe
•   Ein Handkurbelradio oder batteriebetriebenes Radio als Backup für die NOAA.
•   Zusätzliche Batterien
•   Lokale Karten
•   Ein manueller Dosenöffner
•   Einen Schraubenschlüssel oder eine Zange, um die Versorgungsleitungen auszuschalten.
•   Feuchte Handtücher, Müllbeutel und Plastikbänder für die Hygiene
•   Ein Erste-Hilfe-Kasten
•   Eine Pfeife
•   Ein NOAA Wetterradio mit zusätzlichen Batterien
•   Kunststofffolien und Klebeband zum Schutz von Kurzzeitunterkünften
•   Staubmasken zum Filtern verunreinigter Luft.

Bei uns im schwäbischen Süden gehts ja nur um 33° am Samstag und ein bisserl Gewitter am Sonntag. Obwohl, über 31° sind für meine Mutter ein schlauch... ein Schwabe versteht das

•   Bad News - Dorian same latitude as Boca Raton ~ 377 Miles due East of Boca Raton.
•   If current forward speed is maintained and no course changes take place this would place the Hurricane Center in 47 hours directly over Boca Raton.
•   Palm Beach County has been placed under Hurricane Warning.
•   If you listen carefully you can hear: "Die Ruhe vor dem Sturm."

Die US-Marine schickt sechs Schiffe von der Marinestation Mayport in Jacksonville, Florida, in den Atlantik, um dem Hurrikan Dorian zu entkommen, von dem erwartet wird, dass er sich auf einen Hurrikan der Kategorie 3 und möglicherweise der Kategorie 4 verstärkt, bevor er in Florida landet.

•   Bad News – Hurricane Dorian moves west at just 1 mph.
•   The eye of Dorian has only moved 1-degree (70 Miles) North since Thursday last week, but 8 Miles West (432 Miles) and is now only 115 miles West of Boca Raton.
•   Florida stares today into the gaping maw of an atmosphere unhinged, a merciless Cat 5 hurricane still gnawing on the limestone bones of the northern Bahamas after a day-long mauling.
•   At 9 a.m., the center of the merciless 165-mph cyclone was 115 miles east of West Palm Beach and heading due west.
•   Its blustery outer fringes are already ruffling Palm Beach County's coast as tropical storm-force winds stretch out up to 140 miles from Dorian's core.
•   Hurricane-force winds extend 45 miles from Dorian's center.
•   Preparations for Dorian's collision with the coast should be complete with wind speeds of between 40 mph and 74 mph expected to begin this morning.

• Hope of a reprieve for the Sunshine State from Dorian's 200-mph wind gusts lies with the intervention of a weak upper level low pressure system over the Eastern U.S. that forecasters are still confident will nudge a nearly stalled Dorian away from the state.

Dorian Hurricane-force winds extend outward to more than 115 miles.

After assaulting the Bahamas for more than a day and killing at least five people, a stubborn Hurricane Dorian finally was "beginning to inch northwestward" Tuesday morning, and was expected to pick up steam for its trek parallel to the Florida coast.

Dorian remained a powerful Category 3 storm, packing winds of 115 miles per hour, as its southern eyewall continued to batter Grand Bahama, according to the 8 a.m. advisory released Tuesday by the National Hurricane Center.

The storm's movement was not fast — just 1 mile per hour — but it was expected to pick up steam after stalling overnight.
•   Powerful Hurricane Dorian has been going nowhere because nothing high up is making it budge.
•   It may sound strange when talking about a storm that once had 185 mph (298 kph) winds, but it's actually been too calm high in the atmosphere. While this has been horrible for the Bahamas, where the storm's pounding has been relentless, it may help spare Florida a bit, meteorologists said.
•   Usually the upper atmosphere's winds push and pull hurricanes north or west or at least somewhere. They are so powerful that they dictate where these big storms go.

•   The White House have made no announcements regarding a $1 million personal donation and the Mar a Lago offer from the president, to the relief effort in the Bahamas.
•   The U.S. government, on the other hand, started to provide aid to the Caribbean country almost immediately.

Yesterday there were a total of 22 flights that went out of the Stuart Jet Center to make deliveries through our united organization, with a total of 22,000 lbs of donations! The helicopter alone made three trips to West End and Grand Cay. In West End we had volunteer who stayed all day to make distribution in the surrounding provinces.
Flights and deliveries also went to Treasure Cay, Marsh Harbour, Turtle Cay & Free Port.
As the day goes, we will continue updating about flights and destination!

The systemis ecpected to become a tropical storm and bring tropical-storm-force winds and heavy rainfall to portions of the northwestern Baham,as later today and Saturday.
Significant storm surge is expected in the northwest Bahamas. Residents there should folow any advise given by local officials

The sytem will bringtropical-storm-force winds to portions of the Florida East Coast over the weekend.
Residents should monitor the progress of this system and follow advise given by officials.
