Hallo Beate,

Note that the "hängewarze" for the torpedoes used on Marder I/Marder II was different from the ones used on the Biber (as well as the standard from the G7a(TI) when used on surface ships - ref attached photos).

Hi Natter,

many thank for the pictures. In fact I thought the "Hängewarze" was a part of a removable cylindric cover.
Now having the details seen at your pic I need to change my CAD model again in order to pass on more accurate data to our successors  :| :-D

These are the torpedoes used on the german midget submarines (ie the types that reached operational status before the war ended):
* G7e(TIIIb): Used on Marder I and II (had two hängewarze of a uniqe design).
* G7e(TIIIc): Used on Biber, Hecht, Molch and Seehund (special hängewarze for each submarine, ref the original german description: "jeweils besondere Hängewarzen- anordnung". I have no information confirming they had two pieces, but I assume so - otherwise they would not be able to hang on the rail. An exeption for the Biber though, as it had a "sling"-arrangement holding the front part of the torpedoes, only neededing one hängewarze on the machine-section).
* G7e(TIIIe) "Kreuzotter": Used on Molch and Seehund (no information available, but presumably the same hängewarze-arrangement as on the TIIIc)

It's noteworthy that the other G7e variants (in total there were 20 different G7e torpedoes, including 9 versions of the G7e(TIII)), were not equipped with hängewarze due to only being launched from the smooth submarine tubes. Possible exeptions are the G7e(TIIId) "Dackel" and the G7es(TVa) "Zaunkönig I" (both were launched from S-boote), which I presume might have been equipped with one hängewarze of the same type as used on the G7a(TI).

The G7e battery chamber was not as robust as the G7a airtank, with much thinner material. For a hängewarze to be fitted, the hull would have been modified with a thicker part making it possible to establish the needed mounting-holes for the hängewarze screws. This is basically the only structural difference between the G7e torpedoes suited for the midget submarines and the other variants.
The main difference though was the reduced weight of the TIIIb (1352kg), TIIIc (1342kg) and TIIIe (1345kg) compared with the original TIII (1608kg). This was achieved through removing one battery package which in turn lead to a lower performance to keep up the same distance of 5000m (the midget-submarine torpedoes ran with only 17,5Kn speed compared to 30kn of the TIII, and developing only 30Hp compared to 110Hp on the TIII.

Hallo Forum,

Zitat von: Natter am 25 Juli 2018, 23:15:47Also, I think the propellers look a little big (just a hunch without checking referance-photos).
Some details.
You should be able to figure out the measurements by extrapolating the measurement of the tailfin (total height = the diamtre of the torpedo = 533,4 mm):

Hi Dergl,
wow, that is a really nice rendering of the Seehund trailer.
I shall follow this thread more carefully.
Thanks for sharing,

Dergl

Hi Natter,

many thanks for the detailed propeller drawings.
Particularly the table of the angles is valuable for me.
I´ll rework the propellers. Maybe a future project will participate from this.

Hallo Forum,
