Weltkrieges?

Hello, I know this post is old, but I'm still working on a true to scale VIIC model. I found some drawings from the Bundesharciv and made CAD models out of them. Here are a few renderings of it. All that you see in these representations is, as the iron plan indicates on the drawings. It took a long time to find old steel specifications and shapes. The abbreviations in German and the standards that they used then understand. I would like more drawings, but I live in the USA and it's expensive!

If someone is willing to send me drawings, I will make a model out of them. These CAD models are available as soon as I set up a Creative Commons license pack. I have other models on GrabCad, but they own everything that's posted on their website! If you are interested, here's a link to some models I've made for the USS Pampanito Deck Gun.

Hello Darkstar,

don't be shy to write in english. I'm not a submarine specialist, but think to be able to help you as far as german steel
parameters are required. Tell me what you're looking for.

Best regards

Hello Aquarius, very good, I'll write in English. I'm looking for anything related to the construction of U-boats. Engineering drawings that have dimensions. For example here's one for the VIIC Turmdeke. You can notice the Cyrillic in the bottom left. These were returned from the Soviets back to Germany.

Hello Darkstar,

nice plan, do you have any problems with the information in this document, where I can help? I guess you'll need plenty of those plans to fully construct a VII submarine. Did you consider some scaling for your work?  In other words, I'doubt that it's possible to collect enough information/plans for a fullscale reconstruction.
On the other hand there are some preserved boats, you can visit. I visited the 1942 built U 995 at Travemünde/Germany.  U 505 at Chicago/Illinois could be your choice, even though it's a type IX C boat.

Here's the CAD model I made from that part. Some of the abbreviations and old drawings standards are confusing since I don't have the context and I don't know German very well. Google Translate can only get you so far lol. I just do this for fun. If I was a billionare I'd build a U-boat just because I could. But I would also like to preserve drawings like this. To me and people that deal with designs all day, these drawings are just as important at the history books. Tools and machines make the civilization. These models are just the next evolution of technical plans. And from a CAD model, you can use it for so many things. 3D printing, games, design studies. Archival.

Hallo Darkstar,

which of the abbreviations on the drawings you don't understand?

Hallo zusammen!
