I wonder if someone could explain to me what the function was of the special superstructure (especially the cross-shaped "beams") of the Type B.  Today I found a pic on the internet of the Dutch ship wharf Pattje in Waterhuizen. Apparently the pic shows F 233 and F 234 under construction. What surprises me is that both vessels look identical whereas F 234 was supposed to be a Typ B Sperrbrecher ? Or was the typical B Type superstructure added at a later stage ? The info on F 234:

The pic of the two MFP's can be found here :

An MFP at a very similar wharf also at the Winschoterdiep (image number 128808):

Perhaps the two MFP's are not F 233 and F 234 but rather F 223 and F 224 ?

see https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canona_Antimagnetica

Thanks a lot for the info Urs ! I looked at some other photos of MFP's that were equipped with this system and it seems this "Canona Antimagnetica" was added after the delivery from the ship yards that had originally built these craft. Do you know when this system was introduced ? I found some nice pics in my archive of an unidentified Sperrbrecher and I posted them here :

Sicherungsflottille in Swinemünde zugeteilt.

Hi Peter,

Looks like the three pics I posted do indeed show Sperrbrecher 192, ex Kepler. I found another pic here :
