USNS  LEWIS B. Puller, MLP-3  ist nun in San Diego auf Erprobungsfahrt.  http://www.nassco.com/news-center/galleries/usn-dc/mlp3-gallery.html 

Der Marine-Infantrie General "Chesty" [fassbrüstig, nicht vollbusig  :-D] Puller war ein und mein Held in Tat und Wort.  Er schrieb einmal aus Korea nach Hause:  "The mail service has been excellent out here, and in my opinion this is all that the Air Force has accomplished during the war."  [Die Feldpost ist hier grossartig und m.M. nach, ist das alles was die Luftwaffer in diesem Krieg erfolgreich vollbrachte.]

Ein paar Jahre nach dem Korea Krieg hatte ich eine Auswahl in 1958:  Korea, Ryūkyū-Inseln oder Kaiserslautern.  No problema!  Zwei Jahre in K-Town, Ramstein, Heidelberg, Grafenwöhr usw.  Ich war die zweite Generation meiner Familie in Grafenwöhr, nach dem 1.&2. Welkrieg und in Ami-Uniform  :-D


PS:  CHOSIN  war einmal, aber Frieden gibt's noch immer nicht ....  Und als Seniormit 80, glaube ich endlich, Frieden auf Erden gab's noch nie.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Chosin_Reservoir

Ist schon cool ein Fahrzeug nach "Chesty" Puller zu benennen.
Einfach eine alte "Frontsau" des USMC.
Würde mit seiner Art zu führen im Friedensbetrieb sofort gefeuert worden sein...
