07./08.05.1945 Fahnenflucht aus Ijmuiden?

Hallo zusammen,

gem. WEEKLY RESUME OF THE NAVAL, MILITARY AND AIR SITUATION, Vol. 297, 03.-10.05.1945, heißt es, dass in der Nacht vom 07./08.05.1945 der brit. Zerstörer CATTISTOCK (Typ HUNT I) im Kanal/Nordsee ein kleines deutsches Schiff abfängt und nach Ramsgate einbringt.

Unsere Freunde von http://sussexhistoryforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=570.0 haben hierzu einige Informationen zusammengetragen und geben mehr Details zu dem Vorfall.

Der Kapitän und ein Teil der Besatzung des dt. Fahrzeuges sollen sich gewaltsam das Auslaufen aus Ijmuiden erkämpft haben.

Welches Fahrzeug war es? In den brit. Quellen wird von ML 21, M 13 und MS 21 gesprochen. Es scheint ein Fahrzeug der Hafen-/Flußflottillen in den Niederlanden gewesen zu sein.

I like to provide some additional background information to the article "German Minesweeper MS 21" by Richard Osborne in Warship No 178.

This minesweeper was a requisitioned Dutch motorfishing lugger. After the start of the war two luggers were ordered by the Dutch Fishing Company N.V. Scheepvaart- en Visserij Maatschappij "Irene" at Vlaardingen to be built at Scheepswerf "De Nieuwe Maas" N.V., Vlaardingen, building numbers were 309 en 311. Both vessels were still on the slips when requisitioned and later finished as auxiliary minesweepers for the German Navy. Buildingnumber 309 became the M3421 in de 34. Minensuchflotille serving in Holland and buildingnumber 311 became M5621 serving in Norway. Both survived the war came back to Holland, were rebuilt as fishingluggers. M3421 became the VL 30 Janny and M5621 the VL 74 Tonny and both served in the Dutch fishingfleet for at least another 20 years.
The M3421 was commissioned in de 34. Minensuchflottille on 14- 7-1942 and had, as already mentioned in Richard Osbornes article, a very active career within the 34. Flottille. The action of 7- 3-1944 was against the British 53rd MTB Flotilla with the MTB's 693, 695, 689, 694 and 690 involved. On the German side were the V1411, Vp1412, Vp1413, AF 41, AF 42 and M3421, M3432, M3441, M3442, M3443, M3444, M3445, M3446, M3247. The M3421 received about 15 4 cm hits, 8 of the crew were killed and 14 man wounded. The M3421 was out of action till 20-5-1944. The German War Diaries of the 34. Minensuchflottille exist till 15-3-1945, the rest was lost in the last months of the war, so there is no official account of the events of May 1945 from the German side.
This event also mentioned in the War Diary of Nore Command (ADM 199/1441) and Nore Command war History (ADM 199/1454).
Apparently the M3421 returned the Holland because it was returned to the owner at Ijmuiden on 20-9-1945.
