Hi Angel,

I got to the same conclusion as Urs from the S 38 drawing.
4.5/44*1140 = 117 mm. Making 125 mm very likely.

@ Urs und Alo41,

danke  :TU:)

Hi,

Zitat von: Schappi1976 am 02 Februar 2023, 08:42:46
Gebe es bei der Serie S-26-29 eine belegbare Tarnung mit 20mm / 40mm Flak?

There might be one boat with camouflage and a Bofors gun. S 44 training in Norway 1943 with 8 Sftl.

The top photo shows S 44 with a Bofors gun. It could be a camouflage looking at the front of the boat. The "A" for Achim can be seen on the side of the wheel house. There could also be some kind of Wappen on the side. It looks like a "C" or "E" but could be an early 8 SFtl reindeer.

The lower photo shows another 8 SFtl boat. It clearly looks camouflaged. They might be painting from the rubber boat.

Both boats has masts as used during training. All boats were later all white with 8 Sftl Wappen and commander first name letter.

The photos are not clear and it might be that the boats are white with shadows.

Hi Urs,

The 8 SFtl had masts during the first part of the training period (torpedo shooting?) in Norway 1943. They were later removed. There are photos in Kühn's Schnellboote im einsatz 1939-1945 on page 190 and 194. said to be Harstad-Fjord.

The two "camouflage" photos in my post are a part of a long serie on 8 Sftl in Norway.

Masts were also sometimes used in Norway in 1940 (crossing the North sea?).
There are photos in Dallies-Labourdette's S-Boote on page 30-31 (S 24) and page 36 (S 33).

Möglicherweise wegen besserer Funkverbindung in den norwegischen Fjorden ?

Ja. S 33 nach den Kollisionen mit Kelly und Bulldog am 10.5.1940 ? .... JPDL sagt nichts dazu.

Hi,

I have bought a photo of Carl Peters with Schnellboote on Ebay. It is written "Bodö 1943" on the back. I think it is correct.

I think it is possible to identify the Schnellboot.

Hi,

It looks like the white cap that the man in the middle on my CP photo is wearing, were very popular. They can also be seen on sailors from 6 Sftl in Norway in 1942.
Were they made some where in Norway?

The 6 Sftl sailors were on a day trip to a waterfall. They came from S 113.
Could it be around Trondheim? Do anyone know the location?

Könnte die T-förmige Antenne auf der Brücke ein FuMB sein ?
S 64, S 69 und S 108 waren mit einer solchen Antenne ausgerüstet

Yes ,I think so. Do anyone know for sure? If so, then it is  S 64 based on the Lurssen Winkerstand and the none split (S 69 was split) wind shield.

Hi PS,

Yes, it is Nedre Leirfoss. Thank you. Fits well with the crews nine weeks of spare time in Urs post.

What do you think about the white caps? Made in Trondheim? Lokal fashion? Used by painters, bakers...

Its a cap, common in use in the old days. Kind of like a sixpence Also made in Norway. During the war some of them was made with papertreads. These seems to be the light version used in sommertime. Also made of wool, used in wintertime. Used by all levels of society.

The S 64 (and S 63) has two extra pollards. This makes it easy to identify this boat. One of the photos in this serie was also said to be of commander Friedrich-Wilhelm Wilcke. It compares well with the photo in HMA and the extra pollards are there.
Another side photo of S 64 shows the marking on the wheel house as "P"! Why not "F" or "FW"?

/Alo

also,
Thank you PS for the information. It was the same whith the caps in Sweden. "Keps" in Swedish.
