I am sure that the 30000 includes boats that were sunk without torpedos. I only have Hümmelchen and the Whermactbericht to go by.

19/6 Roseburne 4000/2      Hümmelcen writes that Töniges stoped the ship with gun fire and called in S 26 on the radio to sink it = split
24/6 Kingfisher   5000
5/7      -             6000
26/7 London trader 10000
"           -                5000  Hümmelchen writes it sunk when the cargo slipped during a turn to avoid Töniges torpedo
"          -                 2000  On fire after gunfire from Töniges
 total                    30000

The Wehrmachtbericht gives the total claim as 32000 + 2000(on fire) for 26/7. It includes 6-7000 for S 20 and 10-12000 for S 27

There is also no alternative to S 19 if we want a typ S 18 boat in Calais with a 30000 ton claim.

Ich muß mich bei Dir bedanken, noch zwei Fehler entdeckt
Das KTB der 1. S-Fltl besagt, daß der 5000-Tonner wegen verrutschter Ladung beim Ausweichen mit Hartruder kenterte, mehr nicht. S 19 hatte zu dieser Zeit keine Torpedos mehr !  Handschriftlich hinzugefügt ist die Bemerkung "MG-Beschuß"
Der 2000-Tonner wurde von S 20 beschossen, hier hat Hümmelchen die Nummern verwechselt.

Birnbacher "rechnet" so
- S 20 (v Mirbach)  7.000 (To)
- S 19 (Töniges)   10.000 (To)
- S 19 (Töniges)     5.000 (MG)
- S 27 (Büchting)  10.000 (To)
= Summe              32.000
plus
- S 20 (v Mirbach)  2.000 (MG) beschädigt

Summe                        2480 BRT = 7,75 % des "Claims"

Die 30.000 von S 19 können mE nur so entstanden sein, daß Töniges sich die 4000 Tonnen der Roseburn voll zugerechnet hat, ein "Split" der Tonnage wäre mir auch neu

Some more on S 19.
It is possible to see the patch up done to the mine damage in Calais.
The damage was quite substantial as seen on the photo from the repairer work in Kiel.

Hi,

There is a photo from S 19 in Cherbourg July 1941. It proves that Müller kept the Tiger Wappen when 4 SFtl took over S 19 (unusual!).
He then also had the same Tiger on his new S 52 boat before the 4 SFtl took the black panther Flottillewappen.

This is a photo we have discussed before. At that time I thought it was S 26 and S 25.
Now I think we know it is S 26 and S 24 in Hoek van Holland, May/June 1940.

There is not any good match in HMA.

If it is true then the 31 May is a good match for S 26 and S 24.
It looks like S 26 has a Komendant Wimpel. The sun is to the south makin it about midday. It looks like S 24 has an eagle but it is probably something else. I can not see any kill pennants for the two destroyers hit in the early morning on the 31 May.

Most books are a bit vague when it comes to where the Schnellbootflottillen were stationed at those dates.

Is there more information? At what time did S 24 go to Kiel on 31 May?

Das ist leider so nicht richtig. Am Morgen des 31.5. (06:12) lief die 1. S-Fltl mit S 23, S 24 und S 26 und dem zugeteilten S 30 (2. S-Fltl) nach Rotterdam-Lekhaven ein. Am Abend (21:00) Auslaufen, nach Auslaufen (21:20) wurde S 24 zum Marsch in die Heimat aus dem Verband entlassen

Ich habe im HMA leider auch nicht immer den Einlaufhafen vermerkt

Ich habe ein mögliches "Match" gefunden (im HMA nicht vermerkt, und "mittags" paßt nicht)
Am 30.5. läuft die 1. S-Fltl mit S 23, S 24, S 26 und dem zugeteilten S 30 (2. S-Fltl) von Den Helder nach Süden aus, "um der britischen Luftaufklärung zu entgehen" macht um 16:00 in Hoek van Holland fest und läuft von dort (vermutlich nach 23:00, keine Uhrzeit im KTB) zum Einsatz aus

I think you found it. The midday shadows are probably not shadows. They could be mirror images in the water instead. It would then be right before the attack on the destroyers so there should not be any kill pennants.
