Hi,

I think this is generally what it says (the names are probably not correct) :

Im U-Raum (U-Offiz-Raum auf
"S 46"

Von links:

Alfons Kletter, Hack, Repbayer,
u Gert Riestenbeiter. (ausser
Hack, die drei ?... U-Offiz.)

I cant read what the U-Offiz. were and Hack was not. Brave? Beautiful? U-Offiz.?
Hack (second from left) is always in civilian clothes but he looks like he is part of the S 46 crew. He is sitting opposite boat commander Pribe in the Christmas photos.

I have never seen a civilian like Hack on any boat photos (like a crew member, not just a guest) . Is he refusing to wear uniform when he is off duty? I think he is with S 46 from Dec. 1941 to at least May 1942.
Any ideas?

Hi,

More from the Norway 1942, 8 SFtl lot. I think this is the Flottille officers celebrating the order to go back to Germany in June 1942. It looks to warm to be Fasching, 17 Feb 1942.

There are some names given (in modern handwriting). I think I know some more.

1-10?

eindeutig sind Babbel (S 45) und Christiansen (Flottillenchef)

"Charly" könnte Karl-Heinz Merkel sein

Für "Neumann" (?) habe ich noch keine Erklärung

Hi Urs,

Yes, "Charly" is Merkel.

No. 10 is probably Oblt Knapp.
No. 7 is Oblt. Priebe, probably his photo album

There is another photo that I think is No.5 Neumann. He is probably one of the other Flottille officers (Vervaltung?). Cant see his sleeve.

Hi,

I am trying to identify the boat with the sea eagle Wappen. It is one of S 42, S 44 or S 45.

Is it possible to say if the photo shows S 42 in Narvik 29 Dec 1941 or S 45 in Tromsö 26 Dec 1941? What damage did S 42 get in the crash with S 44? Is it known if the boats were put on a "slip"?

I do not think that the photo is from S 45 in Kirkenes in May 1942. S 46 was camouflaged then (probably S 45 as well) and there is less snow, see photo no. 2.

Too bad, Urs,

I still think I can show that the Eagle boat is S 42.

Hugo Bürger's Schneellbote vor! book mainly shows S 42 in the spring 1941 and S 105 in the Baltic. There are also three photos of the Eagle boat (the first even before the eagle was painted on).

I think the back ground looks like Finland, S 45 was never there.
The No. 1 guy has a Finish flag pin on his cap. He has probably bought it when he had leave in Turku 5-6 July 1941 (S 42 and S 105).
The No. 1 and the No. 2 guys looks like they are part of Mentzens crew on S 42.

Conclusion: The Eagle boat is a repainted S 42 and is also the boat on the slip in Narvik, Jan 1942 with 8 SFtl.

I wonder if it is possible to say what Rotte the different 2 SFtl boats were in in June/July 1941?

I think it was like this:
S 41 - S 46
S 42 - S 105
S 43 - S 106
S 44 - S 104

Ja
S 41 und S 46 waren eine Woche lang (25.6.-2.7.) der kurzfristig gebildeten 5. S-Fltl zugeteilt

Thank you Urs,

I have found another 2 SFtl officers photo. I think I now know a large part of the faces, when it was taken and where.

Hi,

Yes, I think it is from 31 Jan. 1944 when Johansen takes over the 2 SFtl from Feldt.

A new face for HMA is Neugebauer (to the left, with a cap on the small photo).
It also solves the "Schulz" mystery on the old 2 SFtl photo. It is Schlenck.

The other new ones are Braune, Wendler and von Stempel.
