Danach durfte Italien eine Anzahl MZ behalten, seltsamerweise wieder auch Nummern über MZ 800 gemeldet (eine)

Nach italienischer Quelle (mal wieder Bargoni, Tutte le Navi ...) handelt es sich bei "MZ 831" um ein ehemals deutsches Boot, gebaut 1943 (Bauwerft unbekannt), das als Kriegsbeute am 01.09.45 an die italienische Marine übergeben und am 01.01.46 in Dienst gestellt wurde.
01.05.50 umnummeriert in "M.T.C. 1010" (NATO-Kennung A 5350). Weiterer Verbleib fehlt leider.

According to Groener, MZ 831 was the former MFP F 831 D. However, the latest historisches-marinearchiv.de/marinefaehrprahm/uebersicht.php research shows that F 831 was converted into AF 99,  was commissioned on 29.4.1944 at Rotterdam and lost on 4/5.7.1944 off Boulogne: she never went into the Mediterranean.
An hypothesis (nothing more) is that MZ 831 could be the ex F 844 D, which according to Groener was converted into AF 99 (vice F 831), and  which the latest research shows as coming to the Mediterranean instead.

The Italian-built wartime MZ numbers went from 701 to 800 included (with five numbers used twice). MZ 801 to 820 were ex Kriegsmarine units building in Italy (none completed at the Armistice), and nos 821 to 880 were only projected.

Furthermore, the sequence MZ 831/834 and GLS 432/438 was used post-war (about 1946) by the Marina Militare as follows:

MZ 831 ex ?    This boat later (on 1.5.1950) became MTC 1010. Curiously, all former German MFPs which became MTCs (Moto Trasporti Costieri) in 1950 were in the MTC 1100 series (1101 to 1109), while MTC 1001 to 1009 were all former Regia Marina motozattere (MZ). So here we have a "non sequitur".
