Hi,

Here is a short photo serie with the last S 21 photos. I think it shows an early S 26, Fimmen (two Winkstand, no dodgers etc.) photographed from a typ S 18 boat (must be S 21, v.Mirbach). It is probebly after the Dynamo Days (26 May-4 June).

Hi
It was only S 26, S 27 and S 28 that were built with two Winkstand. S 27 and S 28 were partly cammoflaged in 1940. It must be S 26.
There is not any details shown on the typ S 18 boat to tell if it is S 21. It could be another boat.

moin, Alo,

14.7.40 Kontrolleinsatz (S 19, S 20, S 24, S 26) gegen verdächtige Fischereifahrzeuge (harmlos)

Hi,

I think there is a daytime trip from Cherbourg to Boulogne in Aug. 1940. I am in Houston this week but I will check when I get back.

Hi,

I had a closer look on the typ S 38 boat in Channel 1a 2a. The antenna between the two "Winkstand" is of the type used on the typ S 30 boats and on S 27. It is probebly S 27 without camoflage.

The next photos in this serie are taken from a typ S 38 boat (S 28) and only shows other typ S 38 boats.

Channel 3a. S 28, loaded with mines, having passed the railroad bridge on the way to the Ijmuidin locks down stream. Comming from Carl Peters in Rotterdam?
Channel 4a, 5a Carl Peters in Rotterdam. I have a booklet (Schnellbootbegleitschiff Carl Peters 1939-1945 by W. Mätzke) That has the same photo claiming it to be Ijsselhafen, Dec 1940. Is that correct? I think it could be from Rotterdam  March/April 1941 as well?

I think photo S 1a in this link shows Carl Peters in the same spot? Link: http://www.forum-marinearchiv.de/smf/index.php/topic,18105.0.html

Dann folgten :

Great, thank you.

The mines are TMB type. Does that fit?

I wonder if anyone can say if and where the Carl Peters photos were taken in Rotterdam. Could it also be Amsterdam?

The next serie shows (new?) S 28.

S 28 1a: I think this is Oblt. Kluge painting on a dark leopard Wappen on his new S 28 (Indienstellung 1 Sep. 1940).
S 28 2a, 3a: A testride in Heavy sea. It looks like the Leitende is having fun with some see sick sailors.

1a : Kluge

Yes, I think that the man to the right in the long coat is not part of the crew. He would then be a passenger that wanted to go to Rotterdam.

Hi,

The next serie (Channel II) will start where the Channel serie stoped. By Carl Peters (in Rottedam?). All the remaining photos will be of the same type with straight edges.

Channel II 1a: By Carl Peters in the same spot as Channel 3a. S 28 to the left with flags.
Channel II 2a: The same. S 28 being refueled by Carl Peters.
Channel II 3a. S 28. Flag "Y Z"?

IRON

Alo, thank you for the pictures, first time I see those fuel hoses attached to the side of the superstructure - those which are infamously represented by all model labels (Revell, Italeri), indeed the hoses are longer and thinner than expected.

thanks again

Christian
