Rohwer & Monakov's book "Stalin's Ocean Going Fleet" mentions that Ansaldo proposed a 19-22000 ton cruiser with 9-250mm guns to the Soviets in 1936. On Page 96 it gives statistics:

Std Disp: 19,500T
Loaded Disp: 26,700T

L: 241.5M
B: 28M
D:7.45M

SHP:240,000
Speed: 37Kt
Range: 7000nm

Armament:
9-250mm (3 Triple turrets)
12- 130mm (6 twin turrets)
12-100mm (6 twin turrets)
32-45mm
6-21" TT ( two triple mounts)

2 catapults, 4 A/C

Does anyone have a drawing of this design?

Dear Dave,

Unfortunately I haven´t yet found the drawing of this cruiser  by Ansaldo in my (several) Russian books on this period.

I don't know if one can find any of these drawings on this website:

You have to modify the URL and by that browse through the months and years. And don't get irritated by many 404 pages that have no content. With some patience you get a lot of results but I really don't know if that cruiser is among them.  :|

Urs Heßling

hi,

if you look at these Ansaldo "Super Washington cruiser" projects for Spain
https://stefsap.wordpress.com/2015/11/15/the-1940s-super-washington-ansaldo-cruisers-for-spain-1200-plans-i/
you get an impression (and not more) what a "super cruiser" might (!) have looked like.

greetings, Urs

Thank you all for your help. This is proving to be a tough one. Between the Spanish designs and this one:

I should be able to come up with a reasonable facsimile!

Thanks!
