request for more information about the MFP 920 DM

Hello all,

Sorry for writing in english, but I think google translate will make a mess of my message 

We are writing a publication about the MFP920 DM sunk in the second world war and seeking for some information to make the story complete.

The mfp 920 is currently laying in the Veerse Meer in the Netherlands in 14m of water and is in quite a good state. The wreck layes up side down but the front and back are very good visable.

I am looking for the next pieces of information:
1. original photos of the MFP920, one should be in the archive of Freiburg, does someone have easy access to those photo archives?
2. Some extra information about the persons on the boat
3. some extra information about the missions just before it hit it's own mine. (to give some extra information about the MFP920 and their activities
4. more information about the last voyage after hitting the mine the wreck is repaired and they tried to tow it to Veere for repair, an original report would be great!

any other information that would be handy for writing an publication about the MFP 920 DM, and the information around it would be helpful!

Thanks in advance and lets try to make this publication with the same quality (and a English summary) as the globe/SAT12 and get some information to a wider public!

At this moment in Holland is a big argument going about destroying this wreck! The dutch waterway authorities think it's a danger for divers and the environment. The main reason is the possibility that there are still mines and ammunition onboard. With this link that information is verifiable incorrect.   

Now the plans are to remove and destroy it from it's original position and only salvage some cannons for a museum!

This would be a big loss for history and totally unnecessary. 

Keep you all posted about these plans. If you can help in any way (convince the dutch authorities about this ridiculousness steps) feel free and much appreciated!

Hallo,

Wrack deutschen Minenlegers wird aus dem Versemeer geborgen
(12.11.13) Im Vrouwenpolder auf dem Versemeer hat die Bergung des aus dem 2. Weltkrieg stammenden Wracks des deutschen Landungsbootes "MFP 920 DM" angefangen. Dazu begannen Mitarbeiter des Verteidigungsministeriums am 11.11. beim Veerse Gatdamm mit der Einrichtung eines Arbeitsstützpunktes aus fünf zusammengekoppelten Pontons, der bis zum 12.11. abgeschlossen sein sollte. Die Operation soll fünf Wochen dauern. Taucher der Geniecompagnie Waterbouw sollen das in 15 Metern Tiefe kieloben liegende Wrack in vier Teile zerschneiden, die dann sektionsweise an die Wasseroberfläche gebracht und dann ins Bevrijdingsmuseum in Zeeuwse Nieuwdorp transportiert werden sollen. Möglicherweise befindet sich noch Munition in dem als Minenleger eingesetzten Fahrzeug, deshalb ist bei den Arbeiten Vorsicht geboten

Der MFP soll später im Befreiungsmuseum Nieuwdorp ausgestellt werden.

Nur Bordkanone von altem Marineprahm bleibt nach Bergung erhalten
(08.01.15) Das Wrack des deutschen Prahms "MFP 920 DM" ist zum größten Teil verschrottet worden. Der Minenleger war am 29.5.1944 bei Walcheren im Veeregat durch Minentreffer beschädigt worden. Erst am 4.5.1944 hatte ihn die Bayerische Schiffbau-Ges.m.b.H., Erlenbach/Main, an die 11. Landungsflottille abgeliefert.
Das Schiff wurde nach der Explosion sinkend auf Strand gesetzt.und kenterte bei einem späteren Abschleppversuch im Veersemeer. Auf Geheiß von Rijkswaterstraat war es gegen den Protest von Tauchern 2013 gehoben worden und sollte im Befreiungsmuseum ausgestellt werden. Wegen der starken Rostschäden war ein Erhalt im Ganzen aber nicht mehr möglich. Nur die Bordkanone sollte nun restauriert und ausgestellt werden.
