NAVALISM restart

Imaginary planet "Terra Nova".
The shape of the continents is different and more like archipelagos.

The hypothesis is based on human colonies with technologies starter for 1920.

My colony "Nova Francia" is composed of 75% French and the remainder of the Belgians, Germans, Swiss, Italians and Spanish.
We are in possession of plans of ships designed before 1920, and war material of the time.
Here are the classes of ships likely chosen as a reference to create the Marine.

First Gun Boats class made to patrol around Nova Francia zones, to clean the sea from the big dangerous native creature similar to plesiosaures or geant carnivor fishes.

Notes:
All ships armament, materials & life boats  are in closed installations to protect crew from large native creatures.
They are also equiped with double mount of 13.2 mm Hotchkiss machine guns for the same job.
These M2x13.2mm Hotchkiss  can fire vs flying or sea predators.
When the warships are outside the bases, these mounts are in alert condition.

hello, Jefgte,

I don´t understand why you want to build battleships and cruisers if you don´t have human enemies, but only hostile pre-neolithic creatures to deal with. A ship type like a long-range gunboat should suffice for that task. Desirable ability: employ floatplanes for patrol and attack.

Nova Francia is not the only human colony on this planet.
Other colonies, probably 10 or 15 are also on other islands or archipels.
Some of them could be no so quiet...
They are going to built oceanic Fleets, with similar 1915-1920 technos.

Presence of large, aggressive flying animals on land have frequently attacked and damaged or destroyed experimental aircraft and airships to date.

At the begining of the colonisation, flying predators attack frequently human colonies.
Very early in the installation, humans have organized armed guards and lookouts as well as to neutralize the flying & land predators.
Bows and crossbows were manufactured in large quantity to save ammunition.
Armed offensive patrols were organised to kill these big animals.

So, the quantity of predators "ll be in reduction in the futur, airscrafts & airships could be use.

Inspired directly from the French Armored Cruisers Dupleix & Leon Gambetta, with 2 blocks of boilers (engines between them), this class of cruisers could be use to discover the new planet & open the dialog with other humans communauties.
Nova Francia prefer friendly relations between humans.

No, the flying predators are still there: I can tell you the name of them: Sarkozy and Merkel indeed! I don`think your armourned cruisers will help us to get rid of them!

This is a n'verse history on an other planet , to change the classic world map as all of us know.
The planet is different & new countries are going to born.
The main interrest is the building of a 1920 Fleet, its developement & the history of this Fleet.

I prefer the 3800t design, not the 4200t-Lamotte Piquet.
This 3800t class, with a relative slow speed, could be built in quantity & use later to escort the 21kts BBs or just to have quantity of Frigates useful for much secondary jobs.

(30kts speed increase displacement to nearly 6000t)
